This project was funded through MPS Arts and the Aroha fund for the new RHS Connect Program that promotes academic engagement through arts integration. | ![]() Nicole SmithArtist Nicole Smith worked with teacher Ahmed Amin and 11th grade IB Theory of Knowledge students on "I Am" poems that explored the identity created in the education system in which they were raised. | ![]() Becca BarniskisBecca Barniskis, an arts integration specialist, worked with Roosevelt through the RHS Connect program helping teachers and artists to plan and reflect. She also facilitated our design process visioning for the arts at Roosevelt. |

This program was funded by Minneapolis Retired Teachers Initiative and Arts for Academic Achievement. | ![]() Cheng XiongHip hop dancer Cheng Xiong worked with Mariah Johnson's dance classes on hip-hop technique in a 4 day residency this fall. | ![]() Young DanceDance instructors from Young Dance worked over 1 month with teacher Mariah Johnson and our Adaptive Dance class as a residency for students and instructing staff on movement techniques. The residency was funded through an Education MN Affinity grant and ended with a training for SEAs. |
![]() Greta McLainStudents from Jaci Smolund's Advanced Art classes worked with artist Greta McLain on a design project for Northwest Equity Partners. They created two large collaborative prints that explored pattern, fusion and color that now hang in the NEP lobby. This projected was funded through NEP and was facilitated by MPS Arts. | ![]() Stuart Pimsler Dance and TheatreDancers from Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater joined RHS dance classes for a residency that culminated in a performance at the October Arts Crawl. | ![]() Lori Brink and Tish JonesArtists Lori Brink and Tish Jones worked with Health II classes on collages and spoken word poems that express individual identity. The residency culminated in the fall with a spoken word assembly with TruArt Speaks. |
