RHS Arts Wing Mural

Completed in March 2015, this xx sq ft mural was created by lead artist Greta McLain, assistant artist Claudia Valentino, art teacher Jaci Smolund and approximately 100 student helpers. The mural is a mixed media creation that spans the entire hallway. All pieces of the mural were designed by Roosevelt students.

The Learner Project

Completed in May 2014, this mixed media piece directed by lead artist Greta McLain, assistant Claudia Valentino and art teacher Jaci Smolund is based on the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile attributes. It was designed and created through a partnership with Roosevelt High School, Sanford High School and Green Central School. 

The Connections Gallery

Completed in August 2015 after 3 years of planning led by English teacher Rebecca Oberg. In collaboration with Forecast Public Art and artist Randy Walker, the Connections Gallery is a permanent structure with changeable components that Roosevelt, MPS and the community enjoy, use and access to make connections through art and across curriculum. 

The Journey of Life

Peace

Roosevelt students joined the enthusiasm and energy of artist Jane Evershed to create 5 panels expressing 5 components of peace. Funded by PASS and the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Hopes and Dreams

The Roosevelt Mural Club worked with art teacher Jaci Smolund and native Minneapolis artist Bobby Wilson to vision and create this mural leading to the CTE wing and main gym. The students and artists used spray paint and stencils to create this thought-provoking piece.
